The Name Behind Gracie PR

Launched 105 years after her birth, Gracie PR is a company named after Grace Caroline Short, "Gracie," born in 1914.

Meet Grace Short.

Gracie PR was founded in March 2019 by Beth Booker, and while her first name is Beth, her middle name is Grace, which came from her great-grandmother, Grace Short. Across four generations, many of the women in her family also have a claim to the name Grace, which has continued to be passed down year after year. Wanting to try something different, instead of naming one of her kids after her great-grandmother, Beth did the next best thing: she named her business after her.

When she was six years old, the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified, ensuring women's right to vote.

When she was 49 years old, the Equal Pay Act was passed by Congress, promising equitable wages for the same work, regardless of someone's gender.

When she was 58 years old, Katharine Graham became the first woman to become CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

When she was 60 years old, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act was passed to prohibit banks from requiring single, widowed or divorced women to bring a man along to cosign any credit application.

When she was 64 years old, The Pregnancy Discrimination Act went into effect, banning discrimination against women based on pregnancy, childbirth or related medical issues.

In 1987, one year following her passing, Congress designated March as Women's History Month.

So, with all the growth for women she witnessed throughout her life, and in honor of all she didn't get to see firsthand, who else better represent a female-owned and operated company built to amplify stories than her?
